Since my last post a lot have really important things have happened to Austra. We released our debut record “Feel It Break” in May on Domino Records and Paper Bag in Canada.
We played some of our biggest shows ever in Toronto, and in Europe and it has been quite an exceptional feeling to suddenly have people in the world that want to buy tickets to see us play. And lots of them! In Berlin our show was moved from a 200 person capacity room to an 800 person capacity room and it sold out. Our love and appreciation for fans in that city cannot be put into words. All of Germany was phenomenal, Poland, Switzerland, Scandinavia as well. In Paris we played a hot, almost unbearable room in 45 degree weather, and the energy was through the roof. Ireland kept up their reputation of being the loudest crowds ever, and we sold out our first London show at Cargo.
Please make sure to check out KOOL THING from Berlin who supported us on most of the tour and who will accompany us again on many European dates in September.
We are about to take on America with Cold Cave this week, but today we play the Riverrocks Festival with TuneYards in New York, and on Saturday Pitchfork Fest After Party in Chicago. I’ve recently posted all our new dates for Europe again in September so go have a look. Looking forward to appearances at Electric Picnic, Rock on Seine, Berlin Festival and our First Headlining show at Scala in London.
Finally, my band would like to graciously thank all the journalists and musicians involved in Polaris for our inclusion in this year’s short list. My band and I are clearly addicted to touring, and it is such an honor to be recognized for what we are doing in our home country.
Please see all current tour dates on our website www.austramusic.com and keep coming to our shows so we can keep singing for you.
Thank you Everyone!
